The Southern Lakes northern boundary is composed of the Lorne Mountain community and sits on the doorstep of the Yukon capital City of Whitehorse.  Lorne Mountain offers Bed & Breakfast along the Alaska Highway, a quaint log cabin on the Wheaton River overlooking the snow peaked mountains.  Dine ‘year-round’ at the Wolf’s Den (Alaska Hwy) or stop for halibut Fish & Chips at the Carcross Cutoff between June & September.

Adventure?  Take the Souther Klondike Highway # 2 to Annie Lake Road. Pull your clubs out at the Mount Lorne wilderness golf course for an hour or two.   Experience a half hour drive through the Wheaton Valley to the Wheaton River where experienced camper/canoers make their way down the river to Lake Bennett and across the rough waters to Carcross.  Definately, a multi-day water adventure with a rustic campsite at Lake Bennett to await calm paddling waters across the Lake to Carcross (usually break of dawn).

Mount Lorne is a true northern community of real Yukoners.  Remote cabins, sled dogs, Yukon Junior Association of Mushers, soapstone carving workshops, on the land herbal workshops and local community events all year round to entertain the curious visitor.   Just driving by you may miss our Community Centre but if you can call (867 667-7083) ahead or just drop in, there may just be something happening that you wouldn’t want to miss.
